EMBC 50th Anniversary

The European Molecular Biology Conference (EMBC), an international organization of 30 countries with the common goal of promoting excellence in the life sciences, was founded in 1969. Since its creation, the EMBC has been funding EMBO, enabling it to fulfil its mission: supporting generations of young life scientists across Europe and beyond, stimulating knowledge exchange and helping to build a research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.

Anniversary Symposium, 24 June 2019

The symposium will acknowledge the contributions of EMBC through a reflection on how research in the life sciences has changed our views on the history and prospects of human life. Three presentations by leading experts on these topics will be followed by a panel discussion.

Location

Otto Hahn Auditorium, Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics (MPIK), Saupfercheckweg 1, 69117 Heidelberg, Germany.

The MPIK campus is located right next to the EMBL/EMBO campus. Transport will be provided with bus shuttles to and from the symposium and to the reception/dinner venue; please see below. We highly recommend that you use either the shuttles provided, public transport, or a taxi. If you are coming by car, a number of parking spaces have been reserved in the upper EMBL car park (P2 on this map). The reserved spots are on the upper level of the car park and will be marked "EMBO Symposium". The way to MPIK is signposted from there.
